Statement on Sanctioning of Polina Kovaleva

Polina Kovaleva, the daughter of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s alleged mistress Svetlana Polyakova, has been sanctioned by the UK Government today.

The government must ensure that financial trickery is not used to evade these sanctions, for example by placing properties in the names of anonymous trusts. There should now be a plan to take control of Polina Kovaleva's flat and sell it off, with the proceeds invested in social housing locally.
